Family Historian Media Metadata importing and restoring Windows Photo Viewer ft. Rootsmagic 10

Metadata is a valuable addition to any digital file, audio, video or image files. Genealogy and family history photographs are no different and Family Historian imports image this EXIF data.

The video describes how to add that valuable metadata using Windows Photo Viewer. I also explain that Windows Photo Viewer can be restored if it has been removed by a Windows update.

Having the ability to search those files by metadata and keywords is a very beneficial research tool. Taking those notesFamily Historian version 6 and below supports two types of Notes: Local notes (associated with a single person, record, or fact); and Note Records (sometimes called Shared Notes), that can be linked to multiple records and/or facts. Version 7 introduced written on the back of old family photographs and embedding them into the digital image is very helpful.
