Recording BMD Information

This article suggests how BMD data can be added to Family Historian.

Some users start with a new source, e.g. GRO. Then when they are going to add the BMD details, they prompt GRO in source and when on that item, fill in the details in the space called 'Where within Source'. One format is GRO BMD (month) (year) x Registration District Vol. Y Page W. The month always represents the quarter.

A variation on this is to have 3 sources, i.e. one for each GRO Index Births, Marriages, and Deaths.

If a certificate is obtained the Index source could be replaced with the certificate one. See Recording from a Birth Certificate and Recording a Marriage/Civil Partnership for advice on recording detailed Certificate information, and Recording from a Census Record for advice on recording Census records.
