Yes, the thing to remember is that each Place field is actually linked by name to a Place record.
So if you change one Place field then you will change the record and thus all Place fields with the same name.

Use File > Backup/Restore > Revert to Snapshot and choose a Date just before or just after last Saturday, depending how far back you want to reset to.

Once you have recovered, we can discuss Place and Address strategies.

Now, the Place and Address fields are all entered as advised by the experts on this forum, but not able to be mapped without your brilliant plug-in
Paula, it is possible to manually adjust the geocoding within FH. If you check each new place as it is created it won't seem too much of a chore. With the map window open and place(s) marked on the map, click the icon at the right hand end of the toolbar. This will enable you to drag the marker pin to wherever you want it on the map. It's a good idea to use Tools > Preferences > Map Window and tick Block Refresh for Non-tentative Geocodes so that once you have adjusted a position to your satisfaction it won't be changed again by any automatic geocoding.

A word of warning: Do NOT use Edit > Find and Replace to adjust Place field names.
It will disrupt any geocode mapping or other details entered against each Place record.
It will usually produce a lot of unlinked Place records that hold those details.
You won't see that problem now, because you have reverted to an old Snapshot taken prior to the disruption.
You can experiment in the Family Historian Sample Project to see what happens, and that can easily be reset.

Lorna's advice is good, but it will still only apply to Place names, and NOT Address fields.
e.g. If you change the geocoding for Nantwich, Cheshire, England, that will affect all 94 references.

The alternative, that some users have adopted, is to ignore the separate Address field, and put the entire Address & Place details in the Place field. That will produce a combined Address & Place record for each unique entry, and therefore each one can have its own geocode. BUT most will have to be entered manually as the FH auto-geocoder does not recognise much below towns & cities. Unless you brave the Map Life Facts Plugin and give Google your credit card details.

The principles you have used are excellent.
Although in due course you may need more than 5 columns, but that need not be a major problem.

With 44 Marshfield Avenue, Crewe, Cheshire, England you were just lucky, as most addresses don't geocode.
I tried some other addresses in Crewe and those were mapped too. So may be somebody has 'enhanced' that area.

But many addresses elsewhere are not so successful ~ it is very hit and miss.

I tried Chorlton Union Workhouse, Nell Lane, Withington, Manchester, England and it plotted in Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester so I don't know how you got the exact position. I tried other variants without Chorlton Union Workhouse or Nell Lane without any success.

The only reliable way to obtain better automatic mapping is via the Map Life Facts Plugin, but that is not as convenient as it once was because you have to register with Google Maps.
