This is the Date Entry Assistant window.<\/p>\n<div class=\"gca-utility vertical-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h2>Date Formats<\/h2>\n<div class=\"table\">\n<table class=\"inline\">\n<thead>\n<tr class=\"row0\">\n<th class=\"col0\">Type<\/th>\n<th class=\"col1\">Format<\/th>\n<th class=\"col2\">Use<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr class=\"row1\">\n<td class=\"col0\">Date<\/td>\n<td class=\"col1\">18 Jan 1891<\/td>\n<td class=\"col2\">normal date format<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row2\">\n<td class=\"col0\">Period<\/td>\n<td class=\"col1\">frm 18 Jan 1891 to 30 Mar 1894<\/td>\n<td class=\"col2\">A specific period, which is inclusive, e.g., the <a href=\"https:\/\/fhug.org.uk\/kb\/kb-article\/working-with-facts\/\">fact<\/a> to which it is attached took<glwrap> place <\/glwrap>over the whole period. For example, you might record that Colin Entwhistle&#8217;s Occupation was a Carpenter <em>frm July 1917 to May 1923<\/em>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row3\">\n<td class=\"col0\">Date Phrase<\/td>\n<td class=\"col1\">&lt;anything&gt;<\/td>\n<td class=\"col2\">Any text not recognised as a valid date is classed as a date phrase. Where possible these should be avoided as date comparisons and computations cannot be done on date phrases.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row4\">\n<td class=\"col0\">Range Between<\/td>\n<td class=\"col1\">btw 18 Jan 1891 and 30 Mar 1894<\/td>\n<td class=\"col2\">Signifies an event that took place some time in the given range. For example, you might record that Colin Entwhitle was born <em>btw 1897 and 1901<\/em>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row5\">\n<td class=\"col0\">Range Before<\/td>\n<td class=\"col1\">before 1 January 1891<\/td>\n<td class=\"col2\">Signifies an event before the given date<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row6\">\n<td class=\"col0\">Range After<\/td>\n<td class=\"col1\">after 1 January 1891<\/td>\n<td class=\"col2\">Signifies an event took place after the given date<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row7\">\n<td class=\"col0\">Quarter Date<\/td>\n<td class=\"col1\">Q1 Jan 1891<\/td>\n<td class=\"col2\">Shows a date covering a three-month period.
