The following sections explain how to delete each type of customisation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Warning<\/strong>: When customisations are deleted they are removed from every Project. The exceptions are Chart Files and Place, Address, Keyword, etc, entries in Lists.<\/p>\n<p>Before deleting any customisation it is wise to ensure that a backup copy exists in case it needs to be restored. Customisations can be saved to file by using <a href=\"#!\" class=\"cs_tooltip\" fhugtt=\"This is the menu across the top of the main Family Historian windows. The &gt; denotes a submenu\">File&nbsp&gt;&nbspImport\/Export&nbsp&gt;&nbspExport<\/a> and selecting the customisation. Customisations can later be restored by using <a href=\"#!\" class=\"cs_tooltip\" fhugtt=\"This is the menu across the top of the main Family Historian windows. The &gt; denotes a submenu\">File&nbsp&gt;&nbspImport\/Export&nbsp&gt;&nbspImport<\/a>. Alternatively, use the <a href=\"https:\/\/pluginstore.family-historian.co.uk\/page\/plugin\/backup-and-restore-family-historian-settings\">Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings<\/a> Plugin.<\/p>\n<p>The Contents for this article (top right) will take you to the instructions for deleting each type of customisation.<\/p>\n<p>Note that it is also possible to delete most customisations by deleting its associated file from the<a href=\"https:\/\/fhug.org.uk\/kb\/kb-article\/family-historian-program-data-folder\/\"> Family Historian Program Data Folder<\/a> whose location depends on the operating system on your computer. Within this folder there are five folders that contain a Custom sub-folder. The customisation files reside within these sub-folders, and deleting any one of them will delete the matching customisation. The two exceptions are Chart Files and Property Box Tabs.<\/p>\n<p>You may find the sound associated with many deletions annoying; to silence it see <a href=\"https:\/\/fhug.org.uk\/kb\/kb-article\/silence-deletion-sound\/\">Silence Deletion Sound<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Delete a Chart File<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Use <a href=\"#!\" class=\"cs_tooltip\" fhugtt=\"This is the menu across the top of the main Family Historian windows. The &gt; denotes a submenu\">View&nbsp&gt;&nbspSaved&nbspCharts<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Select the Chart from the <em>Chart list<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Click the <em>Delete<\/em> button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A Chart File can also be deleted by locating it in the<code> \\Family Historian Projects\\{ProjectName}\\{ProjectName}.fh_data\\Charts\\<\/code> folder and deleting the <code>.fhc<\/code> file.<\/p>\n<h2>Delete a Diagram Text Scheme<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Use <a href=\"#!\" class=\"cs_tooltip\" fhugtt=\"This is the menu across the top of the main Family Historian windows. The &gt; denotes a submenu\">View&nbsp&gt;&nbspStandard\/Custom&nbspDiagrams<\/a> to display a Diagram that uses the Text Scheme.<\/li>\n<li>Use <a href=\"#!\" class=\"cs_tooltip\" fhugtt=\"This is the menu across the top of the main Family Historian windows. The &gt; denotes a submenu\">Diagram&nbsp&gt;&nbspOptions&nbsp<\/a> and go to the <em>Text<\/em> tab.<\/li>\n<li>Select the name of the unwanted Text Scheme from <em>Select Text Scheme list<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <em>Delete<\/em> button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Delete a Diagram Type<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Use <a href=\"#!\" class=\"cs_tooltip\" fhugtt=\"This is the menu across the top of the main Family Historian windows. The &gt; denotes a submenu\">[fh_menu]Tools&nbsp&gt;&nbspNamed&nbspLists&nbspand&nbspFlags&#8230;<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Select the unwanted Flag from the <em>Record Flag<\/em> list<\/li>\n<li>Click the <em>Flag Status<\/em> button and ensure <em>Always include this record flag in flag lists<\/em> is unticked.<\/li>\n<li>Click OK.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Delete a Report Type<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Use <a href=\"#!\" class=\"cs_tooltip\" fhugtt=\"This is the menu across the top of the main Family Historian windows. The &gt; denotes a submenu\">Publish&nbsp(or&nbspView)&nbsp&gt;&nbspCustom&nbspReports&nbsp&gt;&nbspDelete&nbspCustom&nbspReport&#8230;<\/a> (at bottom of list)<\/li>\n<li>Select the unwanted Report Type from <em>Custom Reports<\/em> <em>list<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Click the <em>Delete<\/em> button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Delete Place, Address, Keyword, etc, from Lists<\/h2>\n<p>Many fields have an <em>[\u2026]<\/em> edit button that provides a popup List of values for that field. Such Lists cannot be customised, because they are essentially an index compiled from all similar fields in the Project.
