It is free but corporate and enhanced plans are available at a price. The data is cloud based (presumably in the same place as your wordpress.com blogs &#8211; although it does not actually say so). However being an established company, you should be reasonably confident that they will not just shut-up shop overnight and cut off access to your cloud based data!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It is primarily a simple note taking application, but if used in a specific way can be an effective to do list in the style of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fhug.org.uk\/kb\/kb-article\/todo-txt\/\">todo.txt<\/a> .<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Details<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"384\" class=\"wp-image-8050 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/screenshot_from_2019-05-14_00-33-24.png\" alt=\"\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/screenshot_from_2019-05-14_00-33-24.png 600w, https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/screenshot_from_2019-05-14_00-33-24-300x192.png 300w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 600px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 600\/384;\" \/>\r\n<figcaption>Simplenote welcome screen<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The layout of the application is pretty standard.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>On the left there is a list of notes &#8211; the first line of the note acts as the title.<\/li>\r\n<li>On the right is the currently selected note.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It can be turned into a todo.txt format to-do list by:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Following the todo.txt\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fhug.org.uk\/kb\/kb-article\/todo-txt\/#todorules\">Rules<\/a>\u00a0for the title.<\/li>\r\n<li>Selecting\u00a0<strong>View &gt; Sort Type &gt; Alphabetical<\/strong>\u00a0to ensure the notes sort automatically in the todo.txt style<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The advantage over the todo.txt applications is you have a note in which to keep more details of the task. This makes it impossible to import\/export to other todo.txt applications, but since the data is cloud based and applications are available on many platforms this should not be a problem. You can however share a note with another\u00a0<strong>Simplenote<\/strong>\u00a0user.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/simplenote.com\/help\/#markdown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Markdown<\/a>\u00a0can be enabled for notes to allow richer formating.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Notes can also be tagged and searched.
