There are many methods of entering various kinds of notes in FH that are explained very well in the Family Historian Help. This article describes what you might want to use them for.<\/p>\n
There are two sorts of notes in \u0192h<\/span><\/span> version 6 and below: Note Records (sometimes called Shared Notes); and Local Notes (tightly associated with other records). Version 7 adds a third type: Research Notes, and also introduced AutoText<\/a> (re-usable text) and Integrated Word Processing within Notes<\/a>.<\/p>\n Research Notes are covered in Planning and Tracking Your Research<\/a>.<\/p>\n Note Records have a one-to-many relationship with other records, i.e. ‘Member Of The Choir’ can have many individuals linked to it. The advantage is that you don’t have to type out the same item a number of times.<\/p>\n Some users use Note Records to acknowledge all researchers instrumental in putting together the family tree. The advantage is that the information is against all people if the tree were to be split; the disadvantage is that the Gedcom increases in size and may need editing (see below).<\/p>\n Local notes are not actually stored as records, but as fields against other records.
