See <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalarchives.gov.uk\/help-with-your-research\/research-guides\/1939-register\/\">The National Archives ~ 1939 Register<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although not officially a UK Census, it is reasonable to record it as a census, because it complies with the dictionary definition given as &#8220;an official enumeration of the population including related demographic information&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>As not officially a UK Census, it is not bound by the 100-year rule, so it is available now and a boon to genealogists.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fhug.org.uk\/kb\/kb-article\/recording-from-a-census-record\/\">Recording from a Census Record<\/a> advice explains the importance of using the GEDCOM standard Census Event on which many other features depend, including Ancestral Sources itself, the <a href=\"https:\/\/pluginstore.family-historian.co.uk\/page\/plugin\/lookup-missing-census-facts\">Lookup Missing Census Facts<\/a> Plugin, the <span class=\"fh\" style=\"font-size: 17px !important; line-height: 21.4286px !important;\">\u0192<span style=\"color:#73B262; font-weight: bold;\">h<\/span><\/span> standard Census Report, and <a href=\"https:\/\/fhug.org.uk\/kb\/kb-article\/internet-data-matches\/\">Internet Data Matches<\/a>. The overwhelming advantage is that it is a standard recognised by all products. The alternative of a custom 1939 Register event poses the problem of all the utilities and users agreeing to use the same definition.<\/p>\n<h2>Details<\/h2>\n<p>Ancestral Sources\u00a0uses the standard\u00a0Census Event\u00a0to record the\u00a0UK 1939 Register\u00a0details as if it were a census.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fhug.org.uk\/kb\/download\/janes-census-and-certificate-icons-3\/\">Diagram Icons ~ Jane&#8217;s Census and Certificate Icons<\/a>\u00a0there is a\u00a01939\u00a0icon.<\/p>\n<p>In Family Historian, to optionally adjust the Census Event to say 1939 register instead of census in its narrative sentence use <a href=\"#!\" class=\"cs_tooltip\" fhugtt=\"This is the menu across the top of the main Family Historian windows.
