This article explains how to do this.<\/p>\n<h2>Individual Living and Private Flags<\/h2>\n<p>The first step is to set the Living Flag on all Individual Records for people that are alive. You can similarly set the\u00a0Private Flag\u00a0on\u00a0Individual Records\u00a0you want to exclude entirely.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fhug.org.uk\/kb\/?s=living%20people&amp;is_v=1\">Search this Knowledge Base for &#8216;Living people&#8217;<\/a> and you will find Queries and Utilities for managing living people data. In particular the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fhug.org.uk\/kb\/download\/flag-living-3\/\">Flag Living Query<\/a>\u00a0helps with setting the\u00a0Living Flag\u00a0on appropriate\u00a0Individual Records.<\/p>\n<p>In the Individuals\u00a0<em>Records Window<\/em>, it is useful to add a\u00a0Living Flag\u00a0column that displays &#8216;Y&#8217; for each flagged person:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open the Individuals Records Window and use <a href=\"#!\" class=\"cs_tooltip\" fhugtt=\"This is the menu across the top of the main Family Historian windows. The &gt; denotes a submenu\">Lists&nbsp&gt;&nbspConfigure&nbspRecord&nbspWindow&nbspColumns<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Scroll towards the bottom of the Item list, select <em>Living Flag<\/em>, and click the &gt; button in the middle to add it to the right-hand Column.<\/li>\n<li>Use the up\/down arrows to position the Living column, and finally click OK<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To set the flag manually, right-click on an Individual Record name and use the menu option <em>Set Flag &gt; Living<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Then when <a href=\"https:\/\/fhug.org.uk\/kb\/kb-article\/make-a-family-tree-cd-dvd-or-website\/\">creating a website<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/fhug.org.uk\/kb\/kb-article\/export\/\">Exporting a Gedcom file<\/a> you can use Living\/Private options and Add\/Remove using Query selections to restrict living and private data.<\/p>\n<p>If flags alone don&#8217;t achieve the result you want, the <a href=\"https:\/\/pluginstore.family-historian.co.uk\/page\/plugin\/clean-living-persons\">Clean Living Persons<\/a> plugin provides more options to cleanse your data in <span class=\"fh\" style=\"font-size: 17px !important; line-height: 21.4286px !important;\">\u0192<span style=\"color:#73B262; font-weight: bold;\">h<\/span><\/span> version 5 and above.\u00a0 <strong>Important note<\/strong>: The\u00a0plugin\u00a0deletes data from a project so you should create a &#8216;Publication Project&#8217; and run the plugin on that.<\/p>\n<h3>Create Publication Project<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: Regardless of which data will eventually be deleted, it is recommended that a Publication Project is created to hold the resulting database. This way, you don&#8217;t run the risk of inadvertently deleting data from your master project.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, if any Multimedia Files or Individuals are to be deleted, then a Public Project database is essential, because you will not want to delete those from the master database.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the original master project database.<\/li>\n<li>Use <a href=\"#!\" class=\"cs_tooltip\" fhugtt=\"This is the menu across the top of the main Family Historian windows. The &gt; denotes a submenu\">File&nbsp&gt;&nbspProject&nbspWindow&#8230;<\/a>, select the project you want to copy, then <em>More Tasks<\/em> and <em>Copy Project<\/em>&#8230; and click <em>OK<\/em> to close the current project.<\/li>\n<li>Set the <em>Name of Copy<\/em> to &#8216;Publication&#8217; (or &#8216;Publication X&#8217; where X is the name of the original project, if you have more than one project) and, if desired, alter the <em>Location for Copy<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Set <em>Items to Copy<\/em> (click Help for advice), click <em>Copy<\/em>, and finally <em>OK<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If none of the\u00a0Multimedia Files\u00a0are to be retained, then delete the\u00a0<code>Media<\/code>\u00a0folder from within the\u00a0<code>\\Public\\Public.fh_data<\/code> folder within the Publication project.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","fh_version":[13,14,15,739],"skill_level":[18,17],"topic":[61,60],"class_list":["post-11212","kb_article","type-kb_article","status-publish","hentry","fh_version-v4","fh_version-v5","fh_version-v6","fh_version-v7","skill_level-advanced","skill_level-intermediate","topic-reports-and-books","topic-working-with-the-internet"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/kb_article\/11212","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/kb_article"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/kb_article"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=11212"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"fh_version","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/fh_version?post=11212"},{"taxonomy":"skill_level","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/skill_level?post=11212"},{"taxonomy":"topic","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topic?post=11212"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
