Their big advantage is they allow projects to be moved from Location to Location or even PC to PC without breaking the links.<\/p>\n<h2>Tips<\/h2>\n<p>If finding it difficult to Re-Map folders then try the following guidelines until more familiar with the capabilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use\u00a0Windows\/File Explorer\u00a0to structure &amp; rename the actual folders &amp; file names in your filing system into your desired hierarchy.<\/li>\n<li>In the <em>External File Links<\/em> dialogue, initially only select one folder to Re-Map at a time, or if using <span class=\"fh\" style=\"font-size: 17px !important; line-height: 21.4286px !important;\">\u0192<span style=\"color:#73B262; font-weight: bold;\">h<\/span><\/span> V6 or later then use the <em>Auto Repair Links<\/em> button.<\/li>\n<li>The selected folder must exist in your filing system and hold substantially the same folders &amp; files as shown in the File Links list.<\/li>\n<li>If there is no such matching folder, then use Edit to change a folder in the File Links list to match.<\/li>\n<li>Use\u00a0Re-Map\u00a0and browse to and choose the actual parent folder of the selected\u00a0File Links\u00a0folder.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Plugin<\/h2>\n<p>For V5 or V6 you can also use the <a href=\"https:\/\/pluginstore.family-historian.co.uk\/page\/plugin\/check-and-repair-media-links\">Check and Repair Media Links<\/a> plugin to repair links broken by moving files.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","fh_version":[14,15,739],"skill_level":[18,17,16],"topic":[86,94],"class_list":["post-10643","kb_article","type-kb_article","status-publish","hentry","fh_version-v5","fh_version-v6","fh_version-v7","skill_level-advanced","skill_level-intermediate","skill_level-newcomer","topic-media","topic-media-files"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/kb_article\/10643","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/kb_article"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/kb_article"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=10643"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"fh_version","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/fh_version?post=10643"},{"taxonomy":"skill_level","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/skill_level?post=10643"},{"taxonomy":"topic","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fhug.org.uk\/kb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topic?post=10643"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
