It would be nice if the age calculator could convert alternative calendars that FH supports (Julian & Hebrew). Currently, when a date is recorded in anything but the Gregorian calendar the age can't be calculated.
Kind regards,
Rick

Re: Age calculator able to convert alternative calendars
I think this will need more detail to make it to the Wish List, as I'm not clear exactly what the issue is.
The only reference to the Julian calendar in FH that I am aware of is the option of setting the date of the change to Gregorian as either 1582 or 1752. This affects the calculation of time intervals that span the changeover and whether 1700 was a leap year or not (yes in Julian, no in Gregorian).
I can't find any reference to the Hebrew calendar in FH help, so that will need further explanation please. A quick read of Wikipedia tells me that it is a lunisolar calendar with a different arbitrary zero to Julian/Gregorian (the alleged creation of the world rather than the alleged birth of Christ). How is this supported in FH, and what does the present situation stop you doing?
Could you give some practical examples please? Users will only be able to vote for this if they can understand what the problem is that it is seeking to fix.

Hi Mark
In the Date Entry Assistant in FH there is a drop-down list next to the date box and this option is on the range and date period tabs too. I don't use them and don't really have anything to contribute to this thread that might help Rick.

Re: Age calculator able to convert alternative calendars
On the Facts tab for my own record I have three facts with the age in brackets.
If I change my date of birth to Julian those ages disappear, even if I change the dates of those events to Julian as well.
I wonder if that is something to do with the request?

Re: Age calculator able to convert alternative calendars
Interesting - we learn something new every day! I did of course search for "Hebrew" in the FH help, and there is no reference, and I'd forgotten about that dropdown.
I checked online again, and today is Iyar 22, 5784 in the Hebrew calendar. FH accepts that as a date (a birth date for a dummy test person), and correctly (I think!) records it in the GEDCOM file as 2 DATE @#DHEBREW@ 22 IYR 5784. However, FH reports the person as -3760 years old, so I suspect this is what the OP was referring to.
IMO, that's a program bug, not a Wish List item, and should be reported to CP.
