Printing to PDF

Post by Johnr65 »

Since reinstalling FH7 I'm unable to use the print to pdf function -it asks me how to print it? I guess the nova printer isn't working?

John, please explain exactly what you are doing and provide a screenshot.

The reason I ask is that for reports there is no 'print to pdf' feature.

The Print... button lets you print to any device and for PDF you can set the Printer Name as Family Historian PDF or Microsoft Print to PDF, etc.

Alternatively, there is the Save Report As... PDF File... option.

Which are you using and what exactly is the error message?

I was trying to print a report as a pdf or even using 'save as' but the default printer shows as Nova but saves/prints to Word?

It is saving correctly as a PDF shown in the screenshot, but it is likely that Word is set as your PDF program.
Perhaps Acrobat Reader has not been reinstalled?

Based on Windows 11:
Then go to Settings and type 'Default Apps', scroll to the bottom and find 'Choose defaults by file type' scroll down to .pdf and if it isn't already Acrobat, click the tile and select Acrobat

This is of course if you choose to use Acrobat for reading PDF files.
