Liz,

As no-one has yet responded to your question, can I ask for clarification on what ORA is? It is not an acronym I am familiar with in connection with family history/genealogy research; and others may also not understand.

Ora is 'The Online Repository': https://www.ora-extension.com/

There have been a few Ora related discussions on the FHUG such as this one: https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic ... 32&t=18905.

I expect most people will have upgraded to version 7 by now so the lack of replies may be because the Ora users on here are not using FH6.

I suspect the more relevant question is “can ORA be used with generic sources?”. It’s not an application I would ever consider using, but from what I’ve seen, I don’t see why not.

In the thread mentioned by Nick, several users mention using both FH V6 and Generic Sources driven by ORA scripts.

ORA will work with any software, in fact, because it is simply entering keystrokes that would normally be entered manually. If you intend on using Auto Type templates in this way, ensure that your "Target Application" is set to Family Historian in the OraSettings page of your browser.

Thank you all for your comments. I really like version 6 and reluctant to upgrade.

Liz, FH V7 will allow you to continue to work in much the same way as you do in FH V6.
However, it adds some neat new features that you might find useful.
You can ignore the new features that do not interest you.
If you run into problems with FH V6 then CP will not fix them, whereas several things have been fixed in FH V7.
e.g. Many items on the FHUG Wish List have been resolved in FH V7.

I've always been a fan of "if it ain't broke then don't fix it." V6 works well and I found it stressful enough getting FH6 onto a new laptop, even though you and others were very helpful at the time, let alone updating to v7 . Guess I will have to at some point but stress makes my medical problems worse and so looking for the easy options right now. Thanks everyone.

Upgrading from V6 to v7 wasn't much different to doing a V6 version update.
