I have a man who married twice, with a separate GRO sources for each marriage.
I have an indivudual query listing all marriages and their sources, but the GRO reference for 2nd wife’s marriage is showing the GRO reference for husband’s first marriage not her marriage which was his second.
I am aware that the man has two marriages, so must use [1] or [2] to indicate which marriage source should be referred to, but surely this isn’t need for the wives as they only had one marriage each.
Am I missing something? I am at a loss how 2nd wife can have a GRO source quoted that is nothing to do with her!

Re: Data references for a marriage
Without seeing the Query expressions and evidence supporting your statements regarding sources, it is difficult to explain.
Remember that the Marriage events are Family facts in the Family record shared with the spouse.
So the index [1] or [2] etc, must be applied to the FAMS tag.
Presumably, your Query expression for 1st Marriage is something like: %INDI.FAMS>MARR.SOUR>%
The expression for the 2nd Marriage should be something like: %INDI.FAMS[2]>MARR.SOUR>%

Mike, I think I spotted my problem.
Using data picker for Marriage source, I ended up with:-
%INDI.~SPOU[1]>FAMS[1]>MARR[1].SOUR[1]>%
How I arrived at that I don't know, but when I tried again, I arrived at this:-
%INDI.FAMS[1]>MARR[1].SOUR[1]>% i.e without the ~SPOU[1]
That seems to have cured the problem.
To be honest, I saw your suggestion and was too busy looking at the [1]'s that I nearly missed my extra ~SPOU[1]
Thanks

Re: Data references for a marriage
Yes, your original expression is switching to the Individual's 1st Spouse and examining their 1st Marriage.
So the women will be examining their husband's 1st Marriage.
