Is it possible to duplicate a source, tweak it slightly, and then save it as a new source?

You can use the Clone Any Record Plugin, available from the Plugin Store.

You can also open the Automatic Source Citations bar from the toolbar icon, and select Clone Source Record from the cog wheel icon drop-down menu.
