It is crucial to get the specification of the criteria perfectly correct.

If I understand correctly, you want to find any Individual record that has no Source Citations anywhere at all.
i.e.
No <whole record> Citations.
No Name field Citations.
No Note field Citations.
No Individual Fact Citations such as Birth, Death, Census, Occupation that may have multiple instances.
No Family Fact Citations such as Marriage where there may be more than one Family partnership.

That is almost certainly impossible with a single Query and needs a Plugin or a collection of Queries with manual cross-checks.

If you are only looking for any single Facts that don't have a Source Citation then see the KB Unsourced Facts Query.

I already have queries for singular tasks. Was looking for the "magic expression". Will continue to use single Query.

Thanks for input.

This probably won't help, but there is a standard query called 'Sources for Given Record'. It lists all Sources for a record so you can see if there are none at all. But you can only check one record at a a time!

So if an Individual record is chosen and the Result Set is empty, then it has no Source Citations at all.

That is pretty useful, and includes any Family facts such as Marriage with Source Citations.

However, that =LinksFrom(...) function that the Query uses would make a Plugin really simple to construct by looping all Individual records past all Source records.

Mike,

I just tried this plugin and it seems to work just fine. I was actually needing something like this myself. One question... would it be possible to add a surname column so one could sort by surname?

Thanks,
Bill

I went looking for the Unsourced Individuals plugin in the store but couldn't find it. V0.2 with a Surname column looks like what I amlooking for.

Has it changed its name?

Cheers,

I don't believe it is in the store. Until Mike (the author) posts a link to it, here is a link that I just created to the plugin.

Roberto, we are no longer allowed to attach plugins to posts for security reasons and must use file share links.
The plugin was never popular enough to warrant publishing in the Plugin Store.
Use the Unsourced Individuals link to download the plugin V0.2.

( BTW: My Avast anti-virus reported that Bill's link was infected with URL:Scam! )

Mike,

I think that must be a false positive that should be reported to Avast. Neither Norton 360 nor Malwarebytes report it as having a problem. I use VirusTotal to check URLs and it shows no problems.

I've been using MediaFire for years and have never had any problems with it.

I click on the large blue DOWNLOAD (1.63KB) button that says underneath:
'The download button will start your download and show a message from our advertisers in a new window.'
It seems that the advertisers new window is infected:

Very strange. I don't get that any detection when I click on the download button. All works fine here with no detections.

The download works fine for me; the adware never manifest itself -- presumably my ad blocker sees it off silently.

In my case I was not using an adblocker and still didn't get any detections. I still think that maybe Avast is flagging things that are not really infected.

In any case I think MediaFire is safe and the plugin is safe so there shouldn't be any problems in downloading it. However, since Mike documented a link to it there is no need to use my link.

Thanks Mike, it works a treat.

PS It downloaded and ran without a hitch. I am using Malwarebytes and Norton 360.

Hmm does this plugin not like large files? I've just shy of 69k in the file and it basically just hangs with not responding ... or am I being impatient? ;)

I have about 20,000 individuals in my tree and it takes about 15 or 20 seconds. It should create a new tab on the navigation bar on the far left with the results.

It was written as a one-off temporary plugin for a couple of FHUG users, so it is very unsophisticated.
Thus it has no mechanism to keep Windows happy when it is running such a large loop without output.
That is why the message Not Responding is displayed.
If you wait long enough it may eventually complete, but if not it can be modified to cope with very large Projects.

That is an example of the extra coding plugin authors must incorporate before publishing in the Plugin Store where the plugin can be exposed to a wide range of scenarios. These quick-fix plugins often don't go that far.

I left it running for 50 minutes but still hadn't completed ... :(

If you ever have the time to modify it so it will complete on a large project, I'd be interested.

Thanks

I'm wondering if the environment it's being run in is making it slow. Is the project on a local or networked drive?

When you look in task manager can you see if CPU, disk or Ethernet are being maxed out?
