Show Project Statistics 2.1

Post by jsphillips » 25 Jun 2020 14:51

Having run the Project statistic... great report.
Since I have many large Projects is there a Query or Plug in that will enable to find say the content of "no Marriages" or "No deaths" or "No births" or "parentless" or "childless"
Any help would be gratefully received.

After running the Show Project Statistics Plugin, if you click its Close & Report button some of those cases are included in the Exceptions Report Result Set if they have a red number against them:-

No Birth, Baptism, or Christening Event for a person with no birth related Events
No Death, Burial, or Cremation Event nor Living Flag for a person who is alive but without Living flag
No Marriage Event nor unmarried Status for unmarried couple without Unmarried Couple or Never Married Status
No Parents Family but with Children for a Family Record with only links to children
No Parents Family without Children for a Family Record with neither links to parents nor to children
One Parent Family without Children for a Family Record with one linked parent and no children

In each case double-click the record on the left to open its Property Box and investigate further.

To narrow down the Exceptions reported you can use the Options tab and only tick the reports required.

You asked very similar questions in data usage and enquiries from Show Project Statistics (17705) that provided suggestions for some Query techniques. Does that cover everything or has something been overlooked?

Thanks Mike
Nothing overlooked. Yes I did see my previous mail I apologise for that.
It is a little awkward/clunky although it covers all as you say.
Can a Plug-in be written for each so that I can print a specfic report in each case to deal with please ?
It is easier to print a specific report I can address to research.
Hopeful thanks again.

As I said, to narrow down the Exceptions reported you can use the Options tab and only tick the reports required.
e.g.
Run the Plugin (no need to Update Statistics), on its Options tab click the Clear every box to Report NO Exceptions button and tick only No Birth, Baptism, or Christening Event to show just those exceptions, and finaly click Close & Report.

You can print the Result Set but then you lose the ability to double-click the record on the left to open its Property Box and investigate immediately.

Did you know you can right-click the Result Set icon in the left-hand navigation bar and choose Lock Window to prevent that window being overwritten by another Plugin or a Query.

Sorry I forgot to say that the "Childless" report is one that is not highlighted in red.

As explained in data usage and enquiries from Show Project Statistics (17705) such Family scenarios can be investigated with a Family type Query.

So create a New Custom Query but set its Query Type as Family.

In the Columns tab, add Husband> and Wife> from the Fields pane so that parents are listed.

Typical Rows tab filters needed are:

Add if %FAM.CHIL>% is null to list families with no children.

or both these to list single parent and no parent families.
Add if %FAM.HUSB>% is null
Add if %FAM.WIFE>% is null

Thanks Mike
The Project Statistics says Childless 215
Query as suggested :-
Query Family
Cols tab add Husband> and Wife> from fields pane
Rows tab ADD if%FAM.CHIL>% is null
This lists 215 GREAT !!
THANKS

Confusion over your 2nd query which I wanted to do separately
I am a little unsure how to set this one up as it has 2 "filters" to enter on rows can you help please . I have read all instructions but not sure how to setup this one ?

Thanks Mike
Setup your first suggested Query no problem.
Project Statistics show Childless 215
Query 1 you suggested also yields 215
GREAT

Uncertain how to setup your suggested query 2 as it has 2 filters can you assist please

Having added the 1st Rows tab filter, change the filter details at the bottom and click Add again to add the 2nd filter.

You can carry on adding as many Rows tab filters as you like in exactly the same way as you can add as many Columns tab items as you like.

On following instructions nothing happens
May I tell you how I set it up
New Query
Family type
in columns tab I added Husband then added wife
Art this stage it says family husband then wife
In Rows i added if %FAM.HUSB>% then is null
then added if%FAM.WIFE>% then is null
Maybe there are none of these does it say nothing if nothing found

No, it does not say anything if the filters do not match anything.
So presumably you have no single-parent families nor parentless families in your data.

What does Show Project Statistics say about One Parent and No Parents in the Families column?
Are they both 0 ?

Thank you
How silly of me, yes one parent blank no parents blank
So all verified.
I was concerned that the query showed a blank return I was expecting to see a return showing nil as I thought I had set up the query incorrectly
Thanks Mike

To close this thread I have one last comment.
In the Project statistics one of the exception reads " Fact Date later than life event"
In this case it was a Will after a death. Surely this should not be flagged as it is obvious.
Thanks again Mike for all of your help.

You make a will while you are alive, and the date of the event should be the date of the will. So the Will fact is a lifetime event.
The Probate fact is after death, as that is when the deceased's estate is administered.

Yes Lorna you are right I am wrong.
The will was proven and probate given so I have to alter the data that says will to that of Probate.
Thanks
