Removing duplicate records with SAME record number

I am new to Family Historian Version 6. When I imported records from Ancestry.com I evidently made a major mistake combining records and ended up with duplicate names (records) with the SAME record number. Any suggestions how to delete one of the duplicate names?

Welcome to the FHUG.

Do you mean two boxes are displayed showing the same Name and SAME Record Id?
That does happen, but is not a duplicate Individual record, and is a common misunderstanding by newcomers.
This most often happens in All Relatives Diagrams and sometimes in the Focus Window.
It may either be a proxy box, or that the person exists in two families.
It is absolutely not possible for two records to have the SAME Record Id.
If you check the Records Window on the Individuals tab, you will find they only exist once.

Please attach a screenshot of what you are seeing, as explained in info:forums#posting_topics|> Posting Topics.

BTW: There is detailed advice about importing from Ancestry in how_to:import_from_ancestry|> Import from Ancestry website.

(Attachment 1) Argyro appears in two focus windows (see attachment). One correctly showing spouse and the other not showing a spouse. Both records have the same record number.
(Attachment 2) Consequently when I try to create a descendants tree Argyro (and descendants) appear twice. Thanks for your patience. Trying to learn. Attachments are below.

Argyro only has one Individual record, but is linked to two Family relationship records.

In the Focus Window the lower entry has children (not shown in your screenshot) who are different from the children shown in the upper entry.

That is confirmed in the Descendants Diagram where she is shown with two spouses/partners.
Firstly George and then a blank unknown partner.
One set of children descend from the first marriage with George.
Another set of children descend from her 2nd partnership with an unknown man.

Firstly, please confirm you understand that description.
Secondly, what should be the relationships?
Should all the children be descendants of George and Argyro?

Once we know the desired relationships the necessary corrections can be explained.

Yes, I believe I understand your description.
The correct Focus Window is the one that shows Argyro married to George with 4 children. She only had 1 spouse, she did not have a second spouse/partner.
The incorrect (and duplicate) window for Argyro shows the same 4 children, but does not show husband George. However it does show the same 4 children for Argyro. The children are all descendants of George and Argyro.

It was not clear from your screenshots that the family for Argyro without George had exactly the same children or not.
The coloured ribbons in the Diagram coupling the children did suggest they existed in both 'families'.

To help clarify that type of scenario it is often worthwhile enabling the Record Id in the Focus Window.
Then if the Record Id are the same, you know the boxes represent the same Individual records.
So use the Customize View link top right of Focus Window and tick Record Ids which are shown within [ square brackets ].

However, in this particular case it seems that somehow an extra Family record links Argyro to her children.
That duplicates the Family record with her husband George except for the link to him and their Marriage.
It is wise to check there is no other information in that extra Family record.
So click on the blue bar that runs across the Focus Window under the lower Argyro box (without George).
That will open the Property Box for the Family record named Family: ...of Argyro Papachrysanthou [Rec Id].
Check that every tab Main, Facts, Notes & Media hold no information and note the [Rec Id].

If that is OK, then the Family record can be simply deleted.
So in the Records Window open the Families tab that lists Family records.
If that tab is not displayed then use Tools > Preferences > Records Window > Record Type Display Options and set each to Always show as advised in how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers under Records & Fields & Multimedia.
In the Families tab locate the record ...of Argyro Papachrysanthou using the [Rec Id] noted from Property Box.
With that Family record selected, hit the Delete key or use Edit > Delete and accept the warnings.

That should resolve the problem.

BTW: Don't overlook all the advice given in how_to:index#importing_to_family_historian|> Importing to Family Historian.

Thanks for your patience and assistance. Deleting through the Family records worked.
