Mac - Family Historian and Crossover

Post by Valkrider » 11 Dec 2015 09:20

This week a new version of Crossover was released v15.0.0.

I left my Crossover installation on my MacBook Air but have switched over to using a VirtualBox environment due to the shortcoming of running Family Historian under Crossover v14.

Today I have just updated this installation to v15 of Crossover. My initial testing shows most (I haven't tested everything yet) of the problems have been resolved. The maps now display correctly. Ancestral Sources v5 now runs correctly.

I will do some more testing in the coming days and update this thread and the Knowledgebase as appropriate but it is looking like good news for Mac owners.

Colin,

I presume Crossover has 'adopted' the latest release of Wine (1.8 Release Candidate 3) and that's probably where the main improvements lie. I've just tried my test installation of FH, using Wineskin, and also see some significant improvements in Map display etc. and also in the reliability of some other functions.

Mervyn

Yes it is using the latest version 1.8 of Wine. So far everything is very good. Even the issue with Reports is now sorted. So far it is looking like a great improvement.

I have done some more testing and everything seems to be working fine.

The Backup and Restore plugin is still not working. This is the only issue that I have found.

Colin, this is a long-shot just in case there has been an improvement, but could you again try the TEST REG ACCESS Plugin from V6 and Crossover MAC (11920) Sun Jan 04, 2015 12:43 pm.

Yes, no change there then - I said it was a long-shot!

But since FH and AS are running OK now in Crossover, I may get back to designing a reduced functionality B & R FH Settings Plugin.
