How does 7 look? Any news of release dates?

I am just wondering as a spill has rendered some of "Getting the most of" book useable but not great and no point in getting a new copy if FH7 is coming out and a new "Getting the most of".

It is disappointing that the first news of Family Historian V7 is via a photo from their RootsTech stand.
There is no announcement on the Family Historian website that V7 even exists, let alone what its features might be.
Even their https://www.family-historian.co.uk/community/events page link to RootsTech is broken!
However, a Search for RootsTech reveals https://www.family-historian.co.uk/rootstech-discount page for Version 7.

I know nothing about what might be in the new release, just wondered when Jane posted about learning something new at RootsTech if something might be going on... and then stumbled across this in a blog I follow.

It makes sense that Calico Pie would demo the new version at such a major event, even if it wasn't ready for prime-time yet -- too good an opportunity to pass up, and certainly not something to spoil with an announcement here first.

I would have thought an ideal opportunity to announce V7 on their website (and perhaps here) to entice people along.

RootsTech tends to be jam-packed anyway -- no need to entice people along. And it's somewhere that a lot of announcements happen -- FindMyPast have apparently done a presentation that includes information about the 2021 census; and I'm pretty sure I saw something in passing about a new release announcement by another major software player -- possibly FTM but I wouldn't swear to it. Pretty sure neithe rof those told existing customers first.

It's just a fact of commercial life that companies market to the customers they haven't got yet -- those of us here who will buy the new version will buy it anyway; and those of who won't wouldn't be swayed by reading about it here.

Yes, given that the main boards are still advertising 6 and the 7 reference is on a small board referring to a demo, I suspect that it'll be a while before 7 is street ready.

Kind of a race between 7 of FH and 7 of 9 (cf Star Trek: Picard).

Apologies everyone that we haven't posted more details before now. But we will be posting more updates primarily via Bulletins shortly. I can confirm that Version 7 is on its way. I can't tell you when yet. But given that we haven't even started beta-testing yet, it definitely won't be before Christmas. And we think you will be happy. Lots of very good feedback so far. More news to come soon, Simon

Excellent news!
Many people have been asking about V7 as it has been so long since last update.

Being at RootsTech myself, have seen presentation of what is new and improved for Version 7. Can safely say that I for one will almost certainly upgrade to take advantage of some of the new features and I suspect that most other users will as well. (Some features I may not use but other users almost certainly will and vice versa). Would say it will definitely of been worth the wait.

Let's hope that not only are there some neat NEW features (preferably with some from the Wish List), but also many outstanding annoying bugs in OLD features are fixed.

Don't know about BUGS in old features being fixed or not, but definitely looks like some items from the wish list will be appearing in Version 7.

Simon gave a 20 minute public first look at version 7 presentation at RootsTech London. Much attention is being given to major enhancements to word processing. Also many improvements to reports, citations, website creation, diagrams etc.

The feature that pleases me the most is the introduction of vertical scrollbars for the property box and other windows. Vital for those that have added additional fields to their property box but cannot see the bottom area/edge on laptops that have restricted height displays.

I do hope that the forum users will be given (As previously) a chance to Beta test.
