Simple diagram question

Post by dloose »

I updated FH to 6.2.7 and now my diagrams have some boxes that are about 1/3 white box with an X through it. Haven't found how to control this. Thanks in advance.

The white spaces with crosses in them are where pictures of the individuals should be. FH is not finding the picture files in the expected location. This is not a result of upgrading, but you must have moved some or all of your picture files to a different location on your computer. See how_to:changing_external_file_links|> Changing External File Links for guidance on repairing broken links.

Welcome to the FHUG.

The white rectangles with a cross are where Media image files that should be linked to a Media record are missing or moved.

It is nothing specifically to do with Diagrams.
If you open any screen or dialogue that should show those images, then the same 'broken link' box & cross will be shown.

Use Tools > External Files Links or the Media Window to see the full impact of such 'broken links'.

Simply upgrading to FH V6.2.7 of itself should NOT cause such image file 'broken links'.
But perhaps that upgrade involved something else, like a new PC, or some other major changes?

If you can give some more clues that might explain why Media image files are no longer where they used to be then we can talk you through how to fix those 'broken links'. Lorna's advice is good but there may some shortcuts if we understand the possible causes.

Thanks all. Makes sense; I'll have to get copies of the files.

Why? Where did they go?
Unless you deleted them, they should still be there somewhere.
