I've recently purchased version 6.2.7 (upgrade from version 5), having had a two year hiatus from family history research, and am familiarising myself with the new features.
In the map window, can someone explain why some of the places have the tick box coloured red, while most of them are coloured white? I've puzzled over this and cannot discern a pattern between each of the red ones that would explain why they are highlighted in red.

Re: Map Places
When you have the map window open click on the Map menu in the top toolbar and select View Legend... This will open the Help page which explains the different colours. Do follow the links in that help page to learn more about the map window and geocoding.
One useful tip: it is a good idea to use Tools > Preferences > Map Window and tick Block Refresh for non-tentative Geocodes. This means that if you manually adjust the geocoding for a place it will not be overridden by automatic geocoding. You might also want to set Mark Auto-geocodes as Tentative If: to Always. Then you can take your time checking the codes and Unmark as Tentative as you check each one.
