Backup Message - Progress Dialog Not Responding

Post by David Potter »

Hi Forum

When running the Full Backup option the Backup progress dialogue box opens but then I momentarily see the message in the Box Header = Progress Dialogue Not Responding. The Backup progress box then disappears from view and runs in the background. Clicking the screen brings it back to life. The Backups appear to be valid and restores okay. Question is should I be concerned over this?

Many thanks

David

I suspect FH, or rather Windows, is dealing with a large file.

See V6 Backup very large files (12034) for possible candidates. The most likely is the ThumbCache.data file.

It has probably backed up OK, but as with all backups, the acid test is will it restore?
So try using File > Backup/Restore > Restore Backup which will create a completely new Project with a (2) suffix and thus does not jeopardise your original Project.

Hi Mike

The backup restores okay. Would it help to delate the Thumbcache and have it rebuild?

That is a generally good policy anyway, quite independently from backups, because FH never purges redundant thumbnail images.

Hi Mike

I cleared the cache and allowed it to rebuild - it seems to have solved that error message. Thanks for your help.
