Demise FTM and Increase in use of FH6

Post by jsphillips »

I subscribe to FMP and use the local library for Ancestry which is free.
I am a great believer in using at least two genalogy programs...that of FTM2014 and FH6. I put my data on both
I find FH6 is best but clumsy on creating charts with grabbers etc and FTM best just dragging boxes with cursors. Nothing beats FH6 for everything else.
Although FTM will no longer be supported after 2016 your program will still work.
I have always advocated to my U3A members that online Trees are not good as they become part of an on-line world database with or without your permission. Additionally security and usage are in others hands.
But there again I always point them to FH6.
I hope Calico will respond to the market and try more regular updates (see wish lists etc)
Also regular backups are essential and always create updated GEDS on memory sticks.
Top notch 100 out of 100 to Mike, Jane and all the other frequent responders
