New Version

Post by Johnr65 »

Seems odd that I keep getting a pop up saying there is a newer version of 5.1 but I'm using 7.8? See:

John, that message is about Mike's Ancestral Sources Data Entry plugin which can be used to launch the Ancestral sources program itself. The plugin is not the AS program.

There was recently a discussion about the fact that many people seem to confuse the two. See A new Ancestral Sources launcher...? (23333)
You might be interested in the new simpler plugin called Ancestral Sources Launcher (a less misleading name) whch has been developed by Mark Draper.

John,
The plugin IS NOT Ancestral Sources (AS).
The plugin opens AS for you, so the plugin in FH you currently have, is telling you that 5.1 update is available
It is here: https://pluginstore.family-historian.co ... data-entry

Thank you but I don't think I need it.

Don't need what? The plugin or the update?

I advise that you update otherwise every time you run the Ancestral Sources Data Entry plugin from FH you will get that same popup memo message.

The later version fixes some issues, explains the difference between the AS program and the plugin, and lets you choose the Individual to start AS with.

Or try the new Ancestral Sources Launcher plugin option, which is designed specifically to avoid the confusion that gave rise to this thread…
