I am the root in my project and I am divorced. Is there a way to have the relationship to root column not show the relationship to me of my ex-wife's ancestors?
I have no need to see that a person in my tree, (kept due to my children having those ancestors of course), is possibly my ex-wife's great aunt.

Re: Realtionship to Root Query
I have now unlinked them. Is this the right way or will this cause issues further down the road?
EDIT: No, this then removes them from the marriage tags etc and so I married NO SPOUSE. Re-linked.

Re: Relationship to Root Query
If is only the Records Window you could change the column to
This will not change the output on the Focus window, but will work on the records window and in diagrams if you change the expression.
Code: Select all
=TextIf(RelationCode(FileRoot(),%INDI%,SPOUSE_START,1) = 1," ",Relationship(FileRoot()))

Re: Relationship to Root Query
Many thanks Jane. I didn't even think to configure the column, not that I would have been able to do it anyway, but getting used to a new program is hard!
I'm getting there though and I'm closer to switching from TMG as these bits get cleared up.

Re: Relationship to Root Query
There is a potential snag with the expression suggested by Jane.
It only works correctly while your Individual record is the nominated File Root person.
The workaround is to replace FileRoot() with Record( 2, "I" ) in both places where the digit 2 is your Individual record's Record Id, which is shown in a Records Window column and elsewhere often in square brackets.
