Column display issue in 7.8.6 (64 bit)

Post by wellera »

Hi Nick

Something odd about the column width I'm seeing for Parents, Spouses, Siblings and Children.

The right hand side of the fields has become fixed short of the screen width:

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling AS, but no change.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Andrew

Win 10 and v7.8.6 (64 bit) AS.

Hi Andrew

This looks similar to the one discussed in this thread a while ago. This was related to the user setting a non-standard scale factor, so I wonder if that's possibly the cause here.

If you open up the windows 10 Settings (go to the start menu and type in Settings) and then look at the Display settings. See what the scale is set to.

Hi Nick

Thanks for the quick reply. I've checked settings/display scaling and mine was set to 125% (recommended). I tried 100%, but it made no difference to the column issue.

However, looking back at the thread you mentioned and this said to check the properties for AS (compatibility tab). My High DPI settings had this setting ticked:

(I'd ticked it on a few other apps as it solved the problem of the font display not being sharp within those apps)

Unticking this setting solved the column problem (AS fonts are OK, but no longer sharp!)

Many thanks for your help.

Does choosing System or System Enhanced from the 'High DPI Scaling' drop-down make a difference? I'm assuming you've already experimented with the font smoothing Windows settings.

With 'System' or 'System Enhanced' selected on the 'High DPI Scaling' drop-down the AS columns work properly (but the fonts aren't sharp).

Fonts are sharp with 'Application' selected on the 'High DPI Scaling' drop-down, but AS columns don't work properly.

(I've got Windows 10 Font Smoothing selected via System Properties)

Hope this helps

If it helps diagnose behaviour, you can see the difference in fonts in an AS dialog box:

Without 'Application' selected on 'High DPI Scaling' drop-down:
