Report or Query to contain notes formatted with rich-text

Post by phillip_leslie »

I would like to create a report or query which contains a specific selectable fact such as Birth or Marriage or any other fact, and include the local notes for that fact. However I have used rich-text formatting in my notes, such as colour, bold, strike-through and I would like this information to be included in the report or query. Ideally I would then like to export this information to a .pdf file. I have created a query which does allow me to select the required fact and included the field Note: %FACT.NOTE2[1]% however both when running the query in FH or if printed to .pdf it does not include the rich text formatting. Please can anyone give me any suggestions or point me to an existing solution?

Queries only support plain b & w text on a single row in the Result Set so do not support Rich Text formatting.
Also, long Note text will be truncated with ellipsis.

Reports do support Rich Text and can be saved to PDF. So investigate customising a Report to display just one fact and include local Notes. Save the Report as a Custom Report Type to avoid upsetting the default Report.
It is difficult to be more specific without understanding exactly what details and layout are required.

See Maximum length of %FACT.NOTES2& (or {note}), information being truncated (20812) that seems to be related.

Many thanks Mike, that all makes sense now, so I'll explore your suggestion further. Kind Regards Phillip
