* Record number of Christenings on same day

Just been browsing the PR's of Christ Church, Southwark and came across 105 christenings on the same day
(17 June 1886)!!

Is this a record?

Quite possibly. I noted 62 Christenings on 18 April 1797 at St Andrew Halstead Essex (D/P 96/1/6 images 73 and 74) one of which was a gx3 grandfather

Often bulked out by families doing a batch — I had one family get five baptised the same day, which quickly taught me not to confuse baptism date too closely to birth date as two of them were teenagers!

Also sometimes happens when there's a new vicar/minister. Perhaps people stopped going to church because they didn't like the last vicar, so they have some catching up to do.
