Lost Instolation Code
Hello everyone
I use FH7 on my windows 11 laptop. However, i know require to load my new laptop with FH7. The problem is I cannot find my email with my license code on it. However, when i right click the icon and add info to the end of the target line to try and retrieve my license it come comes back with not found. However, a member of our genealogy group has FH6 on his laptop which is on windows 10, he tried the same thing and got his details. Can someone please let me know :
1: do i need to do something different with being on FH7 and Windows 11
2: Is there another way to obtain my license So i can put FH7 on my new laptop.

Re: Lost Instolation Code
The installation process for FH v7 is different from all earlier versions. There is no licence key.
You use an online Account with Calico Pie.
In the article Nick refers to, only the Version 7 licence problems section is relevant.
In FH v7 on your Windows laptop use Help > About Family Historian... to find your Account name.
Use that in the installation login dialogue on the new PC and if necessary use the lost password option.

Hi I've managed to finally get logged on on my new laptop. However, it has opened the basic program and not my projects. How do I get them?

Re: Lost Instolation Code
You need to copy your Family Historian Projects folder from your old laptop to the new one.
If you have made any customisations to your settings in the program you will also need to copy those across, using one of the Backup and Restore plugins.
This article in the Knowledge Base covers the full migration process. Family Historian Copy and Migration Guide
In particular it covers Copying Project Data, and Copying Program Settings and Restoring Program Settings.

Hi Lorna
Thanks for the update. I have noticed that none of my queries or flags have gone over. What's the best way to get them?
