* Report, List or Query to find all individual alive at date and country

I'm looking for a report, list or query that will help me to find all individuals that were alive on a particular year and country.

I've been bad with adding census information for individuals not in my direct line and have missed adding some census information for them.

My hope is to find all individuals alive during the various Norwegian censuses (for example the 1801 census) and making sure they have the census fact added.

I always add an image of the census page to their census fact (Source_Citation). I already have the appropriate Source_Record for each of the census, but have not added the Source_Citation to the fact for all individuals.

Would be a good start. Then you can copy it and add columns for your CENS records.

Try my Lookup Missing Census Facts plugin. It has filters for most Census years and countries available online.

It skips people who have an appropriate Census fact, or were not alive in the appropriate country at the time.

It is near impossible to use a Report, List or Query to determine what country people lived in on a particular Date, because you have to examine the preceding fact Place names, which is virtually impossible. Whereas, that is what the plugin does.

The plugin also determines the married names of women for the appropriate Census year.
It includes close family members to include in the online searches that it composes for you.

I'll give it a try.

It looks like I will need to go person by person to find out if they are in a particular census. Rather than look for all persons that are alive for inclusion in a particular census!

It will find the people who are alive in the right country for a particular Census.

Then I don't understand the plug-in.

I select Norway 1801-1920 Census

I don't use any of the Programs (Ancestry, FindMyPast, etc.

I select "anyone via the select Records dialog.

and I get thousands of people many of which reside in the USA, Germany, etc.

If I sort one of the columns I can see who might have been in a census but not knowing what country they were in at birth I'll have to sift though them. Gets worse as I get into the late 1800's and 1900's because of the large volume of people in the USA, Germany and never in Norway!

Please try Lookup Missing Census Facts plugin Version 4.8.1 Date 29 Mar 2024.

It fixes the problem with filtering Individuals according to their location versus the Census location & date.
Note that Individuals with negligible Fact details will be assumed to live in the Census location.

It also fixes another problem with the way some names were displayed in the Result Set.

What in the code decides to include a person who would never have been in Norway at any time in their life?

Is it that they were just alive at the time of the particular census? None of their "place" tags suggest a relationship with Norway!

I realize that it is hard to tell what country they had residence. If the listing had a "place" column for their birth and death tags, I could filter out individuals that probably have no relationship to the country via MS-Excel.

My Aunt Signe is not in the list (born after 1920 the last Norway Census) her husband (born before 1920, but never in Norway, born in Slovakia/Austro-Hungarian Empire), does appear in the list! He only has birth and death places!


Question: Is there a way to just go after one census year. I have not looked at the code yet, to see if it contains a list of census years!

I should have mentioned that you must tick the option:
Use their Facts to decide if each person was at home or abroad on the missing Census dates ?

Otherwise, the plugin will include anyone alive in the Census date range.

Click on the header of the ancestry, findmypast, familysearch, ot myheritage columns in the Lookup Web Page and it sorts into date order, which lets you focus on one Census year.

I updated 20 or 30 individuals with Census tags for the Norwegian 1865 Census.

I ran the "Lookup Missing Census Facts" for all individuals descended from an individual.

It looks like people that I added the census tag to are still in the list, indicating to me that I need to add an entry for the 1865 Census! Should the plugin not list people that have the census tag for the particular year?

What does the code use to match against the GEDCOM/Database to indicate that the 1865 Census was added to the individual?

My imported GEDCOM for the CENSUS tag is:

Yes, that is because the plugin is only expecting the Place field country to be Norway and not Norge.
I have added Norge as an alternative to Norway in the plugin.
So please try Lookup Missing Census Facts plugin Version 4.8.2 Date 02 Apr 2024.
