I wonder what has changed that made this necessary?
I suspect phpBB has got more strict about security.

Jane has made some changes which will force https: so hopefully that will resolve it.

Ideally people should already be using addresses that start with https://www.fhug.org.uk in their bookmarks.

I've just noticed that when I log in with my preferred colour scheme (Brown), all the custom avatars disappear!

Are they not supported in all themes?

It's a manual theme-specific customisation -- one of the reasons we prefer to minimise the number of themes supported. When we introduced the extra colorways to cater for the people who inexplicably didn't like pink, it didn't carry through although it should have done... it's on the list.

That's odd because I'm using the brown colour scheme too, and all the avatars are fine.

I have set my scheme to brown and can still see all the custom avatars.

And so can I...

Try clearing caches, Mark. Also what URL are you not seeing them on? Not via the topic link, but what's showing as the url in your browser.

This is weird :? I’ve tried every combination of browser and device available to me (and that’s a lot!), and whatever I try, I see avatars when not logged on, but not when logged on, with any colour scheme.

I even tried using my wife’s iPad (which has never visited FHUG), and installing Opera, which I’ve never used on any system before. Exactly the same. I’ve cleared cache and data everywhere apart from Edge, which is my day-to-day browser.

URL as I’m typing this is

Code: Select all

 https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/posting.php?mode=reply&t=22352
so looks ok to me.

It’s not a showstopper, as avatars are only decorative, but it’s odd.

I’ve registered a second account with a different e-mail address, and that works fine!

That’s it! They were switched off. I’ve definitely not changed it (I don’t remember ever going into that page before), so I wonder what caused it? :?

Wish List error

Post by Woodg »

I have just voted on two new Wish List items and in both cases this error appeared at the top of the page:

[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file /home/taubmano/fhug.org.uk/wishlist/classes/core.dbfunctions.php on line 268: Trying to access array offset on value of type null

My vote was recorded, though.

I'm using Edge on Win 11.

Glenn, I see that on Wish List Ref 619 Preserve Plugin Debugger Options your Vote Rating is 0.
Although it appears on the USER voting list, it has no effect on the overall VOTES and RATING statistics.
Is that what you intended?

Mike, a zero vote is not that unusual.

Maybe, but sometimes when I alert users to their 0 Vote they acknowledge it was a mistake as they did not realise that 0 meant no interest.

Yes, I know a zero means no interest, and I have used it on some items (e.g. Wish List items asking for native Mac apps) but in this case it was meant to be 3.

I could have made an error, or could it have been caused by the PHP warning I mentioned in my previous post?

Can you correct it by using Remove My Vote and Voting again?
Do you still get the php error?

Zero vote removed - no error.
Vote of 3 made - no error.

Looking good!
