Statistics Options Tab

Post by jsphillips »

Record Count 1684.
I have run the Plug in " Show Project statistics 2.8"
I have updated the Statistics and printed the same
I have then gone to the details (for example) no marriages and it list 33
I have then checked these details and not all of it is correct (the same applies to the other stats)
So then I went to find the Statistic options tab (went to help and found previous other mails) just cannot find anyway ie where is Options not also found
Could some kind person also show me how to find
Statistic Options tab (went into help says forbidden) Cannot even find "options"
Where are the setups basis for these stats as some definitely wrong in my case
Thanks

It seems this is essentially about the Show Project Statistics plugin, so I've moved it to the Plugin Discussions forum.

I'm not sure what Statistic Options tab you are referring to.

When the plugin is running it has three tabs: Records, Facts & Options
So maybe it is that righthand Options tab you are looking for.
In FH the only statistics command is File > File Statistics...

Can you be more explicit about what statistics you believe are incorrect and why.

The No Marriage Event nor unmarried Status warnings identify partnerships where there is no Marriage Event and no Status to indicate they were Never Married or were an Unmarried Couple. So the marriage status is indeterminate and may need further investigation, or you just ignore the warnings which can be disabled on the plugin Options tab.

When you click the plugin Close & Report button it will list the 877 exception reports.

They may be related to the red statistics on both the Records tab and the Facts tab.
However, the statistic shown in red is not necessarily the number of exceptions. It simply indicates that one or more of that type of data has an exception.
If you are interested I can explain how to discover the number of exceptions of each type by using the Options tab.

To investigate statistics you often need to use Queries.
To find One Parent families, open the Queries window and use the cog Menu > New Custom Query...
Give it a Query Name of say Parents and set the Query Type to Family which is most important.
Then in the Columns tab, select Husband> and click > to add column, then do the same for Wife>
Now run the Query that will list the Husband and Wife of each partnership.
Click on the Husband column heading to bring any missing Husbands to the top.
Click on the Wife column heading to bring any missing Wives to the top.
Any blank Husband or Wife cell indicates either a One Parent family or same-sex partners.

With the plugin open, select its Options tab and click the Help & Advice button for advice.

The Exceptions Detected: is the total exceptions and the Reported: count is only those exceptions enabled by ticked options.
So first click Clear every box to Report NO Exceptions and the Reported: count becomes 0.
Then tick each box in turn to get its specific Reported: exception count.

They refer to the series of Fact Date Warnings that depend on comparing Dates in Facts, so the rest of the sentence varies depending on the warning.
See the Query > Facts and Events > Fact Date Warnings that lists the same warnings.
They are the same warnings that FH would have raised when those Fact Dates were entered originally (if the warnings had been introduced in the version of FH in use at that time).
Some Fact Dates may have been entered before the warnings were introduced, so the Query and plugin regenerate them now.

You don't need a Query as the Children count is already provided in the Records Window on the Families tab.

Just click on the Children column heading to sort numerically and the 0 counts are all at the bottom of the list.
If you hold down the Alt key while clicking the heading the 0 counts will be at the top.

You don't need to close the Show Project Statistics list of exceptions in order to open the Records Window Families tab.

If you want you can prevent the Show Project Statistics list from being overwritten by anything else.
Make sure that list is displayed, then right-click its tab on the left or use the Window command at the top.
Then select Lock Window (prevent reuse).

However, if you want to keep the Show Project Statistics plugin running then, yes, you must run another copy of FH.
