I started up FH this morning, and was surprised by this:
Does anyone know what is going on here, bearing in mind the words on the dialogue "You only have to do this once"?
Thanks
Alyn
I installed FH7 in December, I have not reinstalled. FH started up normally when I signed in.* Activation required unexpectedly

Re: Activation required unexpectedly
I advise that you check with CP via http://www.calico-pie.com/osticket/open.php.
They log each installation of FH v7 against some 'magic' PC identification code.
So it suggests that the CP database thinks you are using a different PC from the one you installed on before.
That means you may now have used both of your two allowed PC activations of FH v7.
Is it possible that some significant change in your PC components has happened since you previously used FH v7?

Thanks Mike,
I have made no changes that I know of to my PC. I have raised a ticket as you suggested.

CP have responded with this:

If you are asked to activate every time you start Family Historian, that certainly would indicate a problem of some kind. But a one-off occurrence of the kind you describe (if it is a one-off) does not mean that there is a problem.

OK, but that does not explain why it happens.

Re: Activation required unexpectedly
This just happened to me as well today after using FH7 for over a year. I have not changed anything about my computer, just today out of the blue I was asked to activate my installation. It was easily accomplished by simply logging in with my account, but it didn't give any indication why it happened.
Thanks,
Ken.
Thanks,
Ken.

Re: Activation required unexpectedly
Sometimes Windows updates seem to trigger a reconfirmation of activation.
The majority of confirmations simply need logging in again. If logging in does not fix the problem the best course is to raise a ticket with Calico.
