Missing scroll bar on results list

Post by BillH »

I ran Where Used Record Links on one source. I got the result list and it fit horizontally on on screen. I widened several columns so I could read the contents. Then the result set was wider than one screen. No horizontal scroll bar appeared at the bottom of the window so I couldn't easily scroll to what was off the screen. Is this intentional or a bug. If it is intentional, it does make it harder to use the result set.

Bill, I am not seeing this problem. When I run the plugin I do get a scroll bar at the bottom of the results set. So I'm not sure why you are not seeing the same.

By the way in case you didn't know, if you are only wanting to see the record links for one source you can do this by clicking the cog icon at the top of the source Property box or the Citation window and choosing Show Source Record's Citations in Results window.

Lorna,

I think the problem occurs when the original result set fits on the screen so no scroll bar appears. Then if you widen any columns, the result set now is too wide for one screen, but no scroll bar appears.

I don't have the problem if the initial result set is wider than the screen.

I didn't know about that the cog icon. Thanks for the tip.

I can get the same effect providing that the initial Result Set fits in the window so needs no horizontal scroll bar.
Columns can be widened indefinitely and no horizontal scroll bar appears until you switch to another window and back again.
It seems like a minor bug.

Mike,

Is this a bug in the plugin or a bug in FH that needs reporting to CP?

It is nothing to do with the Plugin. Once a Result Set is produced and the Plugin stops running it is all down to FH.
Exactly the same problem affects most Queries that I have tried.

I got the following reply from CP.
Thank you for reporting that. We have confirmed the issue. It will be fixed in the next minor update.
I wonder if the title of this topic should be changed since the problem really had nothing to do with the plugin really. Maybe "Missing scroll bar on results list" or something like that.
