New individual as witness
I have just located a marriage record, and recorded the details in FH. When I attempt to add the witnesses (not name-only witnesses, because I suspect in this case that they are relatives of the bride and groom), the select individual record opens, but there is no prior option to enter a new individual. In other words, I have to create a record for the witness beforehand.
I don't recall this restriction in FH6. Is there any way around this?
Thank you
Alyn

Re: New individual as witness
It's exactly the same as in Version 6, and I don't know of a way around it...

New individual as witness - FH7
When I attempt to add a witness to a marriage event, FH insists that I select an existing individual:
And can anyone confirm or refute my suspicion that this is a change from FH6, where I seem to recall I could create witnesses directly?
Thank you
Alyn
In my experience, witnesses who pop up on marriage records are likely as not new individuals - so I find it's a nuisance to have to interrupt the creation of a marriage event to create these people, then go back to the marriage to add them as witnesses. Is there an easier way?And can anyone confirm or refute my suspicion that this is a change from FH6, where I seem to recall I could create witnesses directly?
Thank you
Alyn

As far as I can see, it was the same in FH6.

Mike, it's comforting to know that there are others who can remind me of things that I've forgotten.Alyn, I have merged this with your identical posting in February.

Re: New individual as witness
On reflection, FH would have to open a new property box for the new witness while keeping track of the original marriage event. In turn, that property box would allow the addition of events which could have their own witnesses ...it's a nuisance to have to interrupt the creation of a marriage event to create these people, then go back to the marriage to add them as witnesses.
Maybe it's not surprising that FH works as it does in this case.

Re: New individual as witness
If you use AS to enter your marriage you can easily add a new individual as a witness
