I am a little confused and am trying find any record of a divorce for George William Geaves.
This would be in England and between 1894 when he married and 1941 when he died,
his wife Edith Mary Smith died in NZ 1942, there appears to be a second husband. Any clues please.

Not sure how far you have researched this, but you could start here: https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/hel ... -1858-1937
And the simple question: What makes you believe he was legally divorced?

Re: G W Geaves
George W Geaves was listed in the 1939 register at 9 Paddock Road, Braughing R.D., Hertfordshire, England. He was with Edith M Geaves, so they were still together in England in 1939.
There was a death of an Edith M Geaves in Hertfordshire, England, in 1942 which is likely to be her.
I suspect that the Edith who died in NZ was unconnected with this couple.

Not part of your question but there is an interesting article mentioning him as the prime witness to a murder. If its new to you its on fmp - Central Somerset Gazette 27 October 1911 Page 7.

Re: G W Geaves
sorry, Thanks for all that. I have not given up, I am slowly searching for and checking ALL my information, some of which appears to be wrong. Will post again when I am sure what I have.
