Source template spaces/commas

Post by JohnnyCee »

I am having trouble with spaces in a Source Template.

I have a Source Template with the following Footnote template:

Code: Select all

{Site_Owner}<, "{Collection_Title}"><, online {Collection_URL}>
When viewing a citation in the citation window, the resulting Footnote text is:

Code: Select all

Ancestry.com , "Arizona, U.S., Death Records, 1887-1968" , online https://search.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=8704.
Two issues:
  1. There is an unwanted space after ".com" and before the subsequent comma.
  2. There is an unwanted space after the quote that follows 1968 and before the subsequent comma.
How do I avoid those commas? They are not caused by trailing spaces in the Field values.

That is a recurring issue, see Source template formatting (21287) and several similar postings.

Mike,

Thanks for your help. I read the post you linked, and tried adding angle brackets a couple places. After a couple failures, I enclosed the entire template in angle brackets and that produced the desired result.

Code: Select all

<{Site_Owner}<, "{Collection_Title}"><, online {Collection_URL}>>
That worked. I wasn't sure if angle brackets could be nested, but evidently, they can. In this case, that triggered the spacing I wanted.

Thanks again.
