* Add a Favicon.ico choice/selection to Web Site Wizard

For Wish List Requests that have either (a) been progressed to the Wish List; or (b) been classified as duplicates, or as redundant because the requirement is already satisfied within FH and/or plugins; or (c) closed because it wasn't possible to arrive at a clear specification of the request within 15 months of it being raised.

Add a Favicon.ico choice/selection to Web Site Wizard

Post by nshortland »

I like to have a favicon.ico file for my Shortland.info website. The file is placed in the root directory of the website (usually where index.html resides). This allows a custom icon to be shown on the browser tab in most modern browsers.

The problem is that the FH Website directory (e.g. C:\Users\Nick\Documents\Family Historian Projects\ShortlandTree\Public\FH Website\) gets overwritten by the wizard and the favicon file gets lost, and has to be manually replaced each time using drag-and-drop (if I remember to do it at the time!). It would be good to have a tick-box selector in the Website Wizard and ideally a selection of icons to use, along with the ability to import a custom ico file. This would then integrate the icon file into the process and store the favicon file as part of the website generation in the same way as the Home Page Picture.

Nick, once you have uploaded your favicon.ico file to your online website root folder, surely it stays there, regardless of what the FH Wizard creates and gets uploaded?
Uploading the FH created files should not delete your favicon.ico file.

The original user, and nobody else, has commented on this topic, so if there is no further interest, this will be moved to the Closed Wish List Requests.
