Plug-ins not working

Post by ThorpeDave »

I have upgraded FH to V7 and reinstalled Ancestral sources and 2 further plug-ins.

While Ancestral Sources appears to be working OK the other 2 are not and coming up with a screen "Not all fields set" - see attached

I have ensured that I have downloaded and installed the updated plug-ins for V7

Any ideas?

Dave

That's a Data Entry Assistant, designed to be run after you've prepared a citation using the Source button on the main toolbar. If you haven't prepared a citation, the plugin can't find the data it needs to proceed.

If all this is gobbledegook, I recommend you read Sources and Citations in Version 7 (for Upgraders) and also Source Driven Data Entry in the help file.

Thanks

From memory - in V6 the plug-in created the citation

However - even when I have entered the minimum data, the plug-in comes up with the same error?

That plugin didn't exis in FH6 -- are you confusing it with another one?

Does it work if you enter a Quarter Date?

I think it was just called GRO something or other!

Nope - it does not work with a Quarter date entered into the main birth record or the prepared citation

One of Jane's plugins (currently “DISABLED”) was Add GRO Source.

That was the one!

So, any idea what I do now? I also have "Record Birth Data UK" that uses the Birth Certificate with the same issue!

How are you running the DEAs? from the dropdown at the bottom of the Prepared Citation window? Or from the plugin window.

I can't replicate the error.

I was doing it from the Add Citation button at the bottom - am I doing it wrong?

I think you mean the Data Entry Assistant button at the bottom of the Prepared Citation window -- there isn't an Add Citation button there. If so, you're not doing it wrong (it should work from the Plugin window as well as long as you have a prepared citation of the tight type).

The fact that you're getting a similar error with a completely different DEA is odd.

Can you document exactly the sequence of actions you're taking, with the exact name for everything you click please.

Light is dawning. your screenshot is of a 'Citation window' not the 'prepared Citation Window.'

You have to start from the Source button (4th along on the toolbar) and prepare a citation (or view the existing prepared citation) before you run a DEA.
