Map Life Facts: Location Plot Options: Locations from

Post by Kim Travis »

When looking at the configuration options, and where the locations to be mapped come from, what is the difference between these two options:
Place Fields only
~ Place only
The text in Help for both of them says "will plot any Place associated with any Fact". Is the only difference where the data is stored?

Thanks,

Kim

One difference is how the data is stored.
The last 6 options with a tilde ~ share one database, whereas Place fields only and Address fields only each use a dedicated database.

All those options allow the database to be held in the Plugin Data folder external to the Project GEDCOM, or within the Source &/or Repository records inside the Project GEDCOM.

The Place fields only option is the only one that can synchronise with the Project Place records, and supplement the FH Map Window plotting feature, by updating the Lat/Longitude fields.
