* Show Project Statistics....not working!

What have I done. I downloaded the plugin and it did run on the first occasion
but since then when run it effectively 'freezes' FH.
This is what happens.
FH open on focus window then tools then plugins
The plugin window appears. Two plugins are listed.
Highlight Show Projects Statistics and then Run
The Plugin window effectively 'freezes' and a second icon appears behind the FH
icon on the windows task bar. Move cursor to this icon and the second window
is titled Show Projects Statistics 1.8, and it is white and blank.
The only way back is to close this 'blank window' (red X top right of this window)and then close the Plugin window.
This then 'unfreezes' FH.
Sorry for the long winded tale but it was I thought, the best way to describe the problem.
So can someone tell me what I have done wrong please?

Hello Howard, that is a strange symptom. Can you run some checks.

Do you have the latest FH version 5.0.11 installed?
If not sure then use Help > Check for Updates and Download Free Upgrade if needed.

Please use File > Validate just in case any errors have crept in.

Please create the Family Historian Sample Project by using File > Project Window > More Tasks > Samples > Reset Sample Project.
Then run the Show Project Statistics plugin on that sample project.

Let me know the results.

Hi Mike, many thanks for the reply.

FH version 5.0.11 is installed.
File>validate was run...... no errors found.
Family Historian Sample Project created as you suggested.
Show Projects Statistics plugin was run and
results were had on all three tabs of the results window.

I did return to my own project file and tried to run the
plugin again, but the result was the same as my previous post!

There must be some data in your Project that the Plugin is not handling correctly.
Would you be prepared to Attach your GEDCOM file to this thread using the Upload attachment tab below?
Alternatively, you could post a link to Cloud storage (if you know how), or I could send you my E-mail address and you could send the GEDCOM back attached.

Hi Mike

If I attach my gedcom file using Upload Attachment does that
mean that it's available to all on the forum? If that is the case
I think the E-mail route would be the better option as far as I
concerned, if that is OK with you.

Further to the previous post I thought I would try something else.
I have a number of copies of my gedcom file which I used when I
was getting to grips with Ancestral Sources and attaching various
media etc. in FH ( Highly recommended to all when things are not
that familiar)
I opened all of these in turn and the plugin appears to be working perfectly!!!

I have E-mailed my E-mail address to you so you can still send your GEDCOM if you wish.

One other check that might be worth running is Tools > Work with External File Links and ensure all the links are OK.

All seems OK
Gedcom file will be sent via E-mail.

Thanks for the GEDCOM, which ran the Plugin OK on my PC and seems a perfectly normal GEDCOM.

The odd thing is that the Plugin does not even inspect the GEDCOM until you tell it to Update Statistics.

Can you try one more thing, to reset the Plugin Data files.
This description uses the project name TREE.
Use Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder ...\Family Historian Projects\TREE\TREE.fh_data\Plugin Data\
Then delete the two files Show Project Statistics.dat and Show Project Statistics.grid

Now try running the Plugin from scratch.
It should produce two windows the main Plugin window and its Help window.
Run the Plugin using Update Statistics.
Then repeat and see what happens.

BTW: What operating system are you using? From past postings I think it is Windows 7.
I also assume you are always connected to the Internet via Broadband.

I deleted the two files Show Project Statistics.dat and Show Project Statistics.grid
as suggested and all (plugin) is now working.
Although the two files have been replaced with files of the same name.
(I'm sure this is what you expected.)

Windows 7 ..yes
Connection to internet via broadband ..yes

It must have been some inexplicable glitch that upset those data files.
Glad it is all OK now.
