Yes, attached is Duplicate Facts Plugin Version 1.3 Date 23 March 2013.

I have removed the earlier OneDrive links that after 5 years no longer seem to work.

[Attachment deleted as Find Duplicate Facts V1.0 is now in the Plugin Store.]

I did not realise the problem of duplicate facts was so widespread.
May be I need to publish this Plugin in the Plugin Store.

Mike,

I know I run it regularly along with several other plugins to check on the validity of my file.

I have updated the Plugin and given it a better name.

It now allows the user a choice over which fields to check to determine duplicates.
Even if all disabled, at least the Fact Name, its Date & Place fields and Attribute Value must match.

All instances of fields and all their sub-fields are checked.
So if for example you tick Witness Individual (_SHAR) then each of the Witness Names must match, and all their sub-fields of Role, Note, Source Citations, and Narrative Sentence must also match.

There is a Remove/Enable Ticks button to quickly switch between checking everything and checking just the minimum.

To close the Plugin without even searching, click the X Close icon top right.

So try attached Find Duplicate Facts Plugin Version 0.1 Date 30 Jan 2019.

I created some duplicate facts and ran the plugin. It found all the duplicates just fine.

Thanks!

I had previously run the old plugin. No Duplicates found.
Ran the new version with only places ticked 200+ duplicates found.
Most of those found were from when AS did not merge items with the same date (It does now)
But some were from when I had re-entered info (to add source images, and move from method 2 to method 1) and had managed to untick Replace.
I will still run this from time to time as a check.

The earlier version of the Plugin unconditionally checked many (but not all) of the Fact sub-fields.
Now you can choose to some degree how close the Facts must match to be considered duplicates.

Presumably your '200+ Duplicate Facts' have fields other than the Place field that differ?

I updated the Plugin deliberately to let you find Facts with varying degrees of similarity.

It is not clear whether you are in favour of this new version or not.

BTW: The difference between having NO ticked options and just the Place (PLAC) option ticked is subtle.
With NO ticked options, only the PLAC field value itself is checked (along with DATE fields and Attribute values).
With just Place (PLAC) ticked, its subsidiary fields FORM, NOTE2, NOTE, SOUR2, SOUR are also checked, and if any exist then their subsidiary fields are checked, and so on.
