* Exporting Gedcom in FH7

Importing from another genealogy program? This is the place to ask. Questions about Exporting should go in the Exporting sub-forum of the General Usage forum.

Exporting Gedcom in FH7

Post by jclifford »

In earlier versions of FH I used to create a named list containing the records i wanted to populate a new gedcom and then go through the process of exporting a gedcom. After the new gedcom had been saved FH popped up a dialog box offering to open the gedcom in a new instance of FH, but this no longer happens in FH7.

Am I missing something in Preferences or elsewhere?

No, you are not missing anything. FH V7 no longer produces that prompt.
You have two alternative workarounds:
  1. Note the folder path where the GEDCOM file is exported.
    Use the File > Gedcom File Tasks > Open Gedcom File... command or use keyboard Ctrl+O to open that GEDCOM.
  2. Instead of the File > Export > GEDCOM File... command, use File > Project Window > More Tasks > Copy Project...
    Open that copy and use File > Split Tree Helper... command to Delete all Individual records NOT found by the
    Individual Query: Named List Members
    Under Other Records select the four Delete ... records left with no links to them and finally Perform Tasks
