FH Export GEDCOM to Dropbox stops

Have been a long-term user of FH Export GEDCOM to Dropbox for onward Import to TNG but is now stalling as follows.
• Usual Tools checks before Export GEDCOM were ok (Ext’l File Links, Check & repair media links, Check for unlinked Media)
• Installed latest version Export GEDCOM plug-in (v3.7). Export GEDCOM to my usual FH project folder Public/Export/HannByrnes, which resides in Dropbox. After a few seconds it stopped updating with the message-“Family Historian has stopped working...”)
• Restored FH full Backup of previous day to Dropbox. New FH Project folder is renamed - HannByrnes(2)
• Exported GEDCOM to the Restored folder HannByrnes(2). Again after a few seconds stopped updating previous GEDCOM-“FH has stopped working...”).
• Seems to stop at entry “INDI 361” each time whether using TNG export mode or Std GEDCOM 5.5. Char encoding used is UTF-8. Validation found no errors. Tools/Find Uncategorised data = 0 records found containing UDF.
• Error message- “File not terminated correctly (no trailer record found)”
FH message “ A file has been generated detailing issues encountered while loading the file.
• Viewing the File (FH Exception Report): Info Only entries =none . EXCLUDED (Lines marked "EXCLUDED:" indicate data which has not been loaded, and explain why it wasn't loaded.) All entries read as follows - with differing number in brackets. : EXCLUDED: link to non-existent Source record (253) etc.

Attached is screenshot of some of the report entries.

Hope it makes sense to somebody.

Sorry that is happening Peter.

I presume the 'Error message...' and 'FH message...' near the end of your points refer to the Public/Export/HannByrnes exported GEDCOM file, which is not surprising as the export did not complete, so those messages can be ignored.

The Export Gedcom File Plugin is having a problem coping with something associated with an Individual record after Record Id 361 in your master Project.
That latest Plugin V3.7 has changed the way it handles Media image files, so that may be where the problem lies.

What Shared Settings are you using for those illustrated below:

Please can you perform a number of experiments to try and narrow down the problem.
  1. Leave the Plugin running for say 20 minutes despite the "Family Historian has stopped working" message.
    Does it eventually complete?
  2. Run the Plugin with the Multimedia Conversion option set to (WIPE-ALL) Remove all the Multimedia entirely.
This will confirm it is a Media conversion problem.
  3. Run the Show Project Statistics Plugin on your master Project and after Close & Report tell me about any Unusual Multimedia... exceptions reported at the bottom of the Result Set.

Thanks Mike
Shared settings are 600 (Max H and W). Tick box: “Use JPG File Format for all exported image files”- I use some pdf Docs in TNG, do I tick this one??
Leave Plugin running say 20mins - Ran for 35 mins, still got “Stopped working” message. Export did not complete.
Run the Plugin with the Multimedia Conversion option set to (WIPE-ALL). The Export GEDCOM completed ok. (GEDCOM also reverted to normal 1.08Mb file size, was 2Mb with fault). Saved the Export GEDCOM as “Text File ANSI”
Run the Show Project Statistics Plugin on your master Project and after Close & Report tell me about any Unusual Multimedia...See attachment; screen shot –a composite of the Report header & first few entries and the lower half-the Unusual Multimedia entries. I suspect the first entry is the culprit! “McGee,John_LivesOfTheFirstWorldWar” It’s a media file slumbering in the background, I never used and it was no problem.
• Have deleted that first entry but have done no further tests.
(Any idea what’s wrong about the remaining six Unusual Multimedia entries? They were installed on FH a long time ago).

The Shared Settings discussed only apply to image files so PDF, DOC, TXT media are not involved. Your setting is fine.

Since Plugin ran OK with Multimedia (WIPE~ALL), it confirms it is a Media related conversion problem.
The exported GEDCOM format and thus size will depend on the Character Set Encoding you chose.

Yes, since that first Unusual Multimedia exception had file format problems it is the likely culprit.
If you have deleted the Media record and the file itself then that should eliminate that as the cause of any problems.

Regarding the other Unusual Multimedia Frame exceptions, if you check closely, one edge of each frame lies outside the image.
i.e.
The first two have Bottom edge one pixel below Height of image.
The next two have Right edge a few pixels beyond Width of image.
The last two have Top edge -02 pixels above the image.
It would be advisable to adjust those so they all fall just within the image.

Try running the Plugin with your usual settings for TNG and hopefully it should succeed.

Mike,

Many thanks that's reassuring. I will check those media parameters. They hadn't caused a problem before updating to Export GEDCOM v3.7??

Those frame settings should not cause a problem, but the Plugin does have to adjust them when outside the image.
It is just neater if they are entirely within the image.
