I understand that you have a way of working with TMG Source Record Id, and there will be a natural inertia to change, but I also support the comments of Mike and Brian, especially that Record Id may well be inconsistent between programs, and not even guaranteed to remain unchanged within one program, and that includes FH in some circumstances.
It might be an idea to investigate other products to see if the TMG Source Record Id are preserved therein.
An intermediate stance is to use glossary:work_with_record_identifiers|> Work With Record Identifiers to Copy existing Record Id into the Custom Id field, then adjust those Custom Id to match your existing research, and leave them there. Do not copy them back into the Record Id. Then they are easily edited, and more likely to migrate to other products should the need arise.
Interestingly, TMG is one of the few products that does not appear to support the standard GEDCOM Custom Id field.

Re: Source Record ID Numbers missing or wrongly assigned after import from TMG
I am sorry if you feel offended by my posting. I have also been researching my family history for over 20 years and I am always willing to listen to the advice of others. Of course, you are quite at liberty to carry on in whatever way you wish, and it was only in a spirit of helpfulness that I made my suggestion.
