Is there a way to add an additional option to the Relation field drop down?
One that is missing is 'Inmate' for workhouse or prison residents. Also 'Orphan' is missing which is common in workhouse entries.

You don't need to update the Relation field drop down list.
Just type in the word Inmate or Orphan as required.
However, if you want to add them to the drop down list, here is how to change the Census Template:
Use Census > Census Templates and choose the Country/Region and the Year to be changed.
From the Census Columns select the Relation... field.
In the List Items click the Edit List button and use + 'Add row to this list' for Inmate and Orphan items.
Click OK to close List Editor and click Save to save template.
You then need to repeat the above for each Census Year and Country/Region as necessary.
