US Census for New York 1905, 1915, 1925 Template

Post by Treesearcher2 »

An ancestor of mine ended up in the USA. I have used Ancestral Sources to add the 1880, 1900 and 1910 data but I am having trouble adding data for the above. I believe that I need to add or amend a template for this but I am struggling. Does anyone please have a template that I could copy? Thanks, Treesearcher2

If nobody can help then you could try adapting the fhugdownloads:ancestralsources#downloads_links|> Downloads & Links Iowa or Kansas templates whichever matches best.

in AS use the Census > Census Templates command and create a New template for New York for those years.
Then use the Copy and Paste buttons to copy from Iowa/Kansas to New York year by year and amend as necessary.

Would you care to attach it here so it can be used by others?

Hi Mike - I would like to attach the templates but I don't know how! I have exported them from Ancestral Sources to my desktop but how do I get them up to you?

I believe they are .xml files that should attach directly via the ATTACHMENTS tab below the Post a reply text box.
You need to scroll down a little to see that tab.

Ha! Found it. Perhaps someone could check this out before releasing it - I am not confident that the templates are OK.

If Mike checks them out, I'll snag them and add them to downloads in the new KB with your permission?

Assuming the columns in the template grid matches the columns on the New York Census forms then they look OK.

The only comment I would make is that the Short Title for some columns could be abbreviated.
e.g. 'Relationship' instead of 'Relationship to head of family?'
Then they fit the column headings better, but the long Column Title still appears as a tooltip.
For that reason, the Gender column usually has the Title of Sex.

Have a look at some of the other Census Templates for examples.

Sorry to post to an old thread, but I'm unable to find these Templates anywhere. Can anyone help by pointing me in the direction please?

It seems they were never uploaded to the FHUG KB Downloads under Templates (Ancestral Sources).
However, the Attachment to the earlier Sat 28th Nov 2020 15:11 posting in this thread should work.
