When I follow the instruction on this forum I find the instead of the bottom rh corner moving all the page boundaries move like a net over the chart/diagram
I'm using version 5 on windows 7
What have I got wrong this time?[smile]

What you describe is the correct way to adjust the position of the page boundaries.

In FH5, the easiest way to alter the scale of the diagram is to activate the Movement Control Box by either using the Diagram menu option Enable Moving/Resizing or clicking the corresponding toolbar button:
You can Search FH's Help for terms like scale, resize, etc.  And you can find the same terms in Getting the Most From Family Historian 5.

Move the cursor over a page boundary intersection until it turns into an arrow headed cross.

If you hold the left mouse button and drag, then the page boundaries are moved.
If you hold the right mouse button and drag, then the page is resized.
Dragging down/right enlarges, and up/left reduces page size.

It requires judicial use of both techniques to fit the diagram onto one page.

The Movement Control Box slider is somewhat easier.

However, with a large diagram, the changes can be very sluggish.

The Diagram Options > General tab Scaling field is much quicker to get near the desired scale.

Also Save Diagram As > PDF File (.pdf) has an option to rescale automatically to fit one page.

Thanks to you both- first I tried re-sizing using the boundaries and it did indeed move and I got as far as having only one page break down the centre - I'm using windows 7 with parallels on a Mac - but this does seem very tricky -but fun.
Then as I really wanted it as a PDF -to send to commercial printer - I, as suggested saved as a PDF, however was somewhat concerned by the 'fit on one page if possible' as my tree was some 59 inches long I thought there would be a problem but it came out fine - thank you both but I'll keep trying the boundary method if only to prove I can do it.
