Printing diagrams FHV6 using Crossover 19.0.2

Post by IreneMo »

I am trying to print an all relatives diagram but it won't print. I also can't seem to be able to save the diagram as PDF and then print. I have been able to export a GEDCOM file to a printers and order a print but just want to print a 2 page diagram for a new project.

Any advice?

Many thanks

Are you aware of the Running Family Historian on Crossover advice under Printing and PDF?
Under Mac and Linux issues it explains why Family Historian PDF (novaPDF printer) does not work.

Have you been able to print before, or is this your first attempt?

What Print command are you using and what Printer are you choosing?

@Mikes advice is spot on. Upgrading Crossover to v21 is also worthwhile as it uses an updated version of Wine.

Thank you both,

I wasn't aware of the advice on printing. I will have a good read at all of this. I don't recall ever printing from the Mac but a windows PC before.

I was using the File Print command and selecting printer HP Officejet Pro 8620. Also tried Diagram, Save Diagram as .. PDF file

I will read over the advice and hopefully understand it all.

I will also look at upgrading to V21 Crossover.

Will let you know how I get on.

Thanks as ever for advice.

Regards

Hi Mike and Colin

Are you aware of any issues in loading the free PDFwriter for Macs given in the link below and try to install the Lisanet PDFwriter.pkg I can the attached error message. Any advice?

In the meantime, I have managed to export my diagram in a jpeg file and although I can't print out successfully I can send it to a family member. I can also save a pdf from the jpeg file albeit you have to zoom in.

This is a common issue with programs from developers who aren't prepared to pay Apple a premium to certify their applications. Rather than cover how to overcome this here a quick Google search will tell you how to overcome it.

This is an example and is from Apple https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-hel ... h40616/mac

Maybe that link could be added to the Running Family Historian on Crossover advice under Printing and PDF?
